Warith Institute at the Annual International Health Expo Iraq
The Annual International Health Expo is an event that brings healthcare professionals together in one place in Iraq. It is held annually in Baghdad at the Baghdad International Fair. The conference provides an opportunity to showcase new products and innovations and strengthen valuable connections.
This annual international event serves as an important platform for showcasing ongoing developments in the healthcare sector and strategic planning in Iraq, with broad participation from around the world. The event brings together specialists from the Middle East, including Iraq, Turkey, Iran, and GCC countries, as well as representatives from Europe, the United States, Asia, and Africa. The event features regional pavilions and government presence and hosts multidisciplinary conferences and discussion panels.
Dr. Mohammed Ghanem Mahdi, a genetic testing specialist representing the Warith International Cancer Institute, discussed digital pathology technology and how it has significantly transformed the field of treatment, despite still being in the experimental phase. This technology has changed the medical scene by improving diagnostic accuracy and speeding up sample analysis. The scanner or digital pathology device, the first in Iraq, specializes in diagnosing cancer through pathological tissue examination.
Samples are analyzed by Iraqi specialists trained internationally, with scientific consultations from global laboratories in countries such as India, Japan, and others.
This technology provides a dual review of pathology reports, contributing to more effective and personalized patient treatment. This project is one of the most prominent initiatives undertaken by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine at the Warith International Cancer Institute.
Dr. Haidar Hamza Al-Abedi, Head of the Health and Medical Education Authority, delivered a speech at the International Health Expo where he emphasized that improving the health situation in Iraq is a shared responsibility that should not be placed solely on one entity, even if it is an official one. He noted that the healthcare institutions affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine play a crucial role in meeting the healthcare needs of Iraqi citizens, as the Shrine welcomes patients from all Iraqi governorates to its healthcare facilities in Karbala. Dr. Al-Abedi added, "We take pride in collaborating with official healthcare institutions under the Ministry of Health in providing health services."
